Harmony Park

Harmony Park is a dedicated off-leash area for dogs on Brisbane Street in Surry Hills, with dogs permitted off leash at all times. It offers a straightforward local option for dog owners in the inner city, positioned between Hunt and Goulburn streets.

The park also has a notable local history. The site was cleared as part of the removal of Brisbane Street’s houses and narrow streets in 1924, then spent decades largely unused before being converted to a car park. City of Sydney bought the land back in 2001, and the park opened in 2006 under the name Harmony Park, recognising the cultural and social diversity of Surry Hills and Darlinghurst.

For visitors interested in the site’s environmental features, the park is watered with stormwater collected from the adjoining electricity substation roof and stored in a 240,000-litre tank.
