The Village Inn Paddington

The Village Inn Paddington is a historic pub with a strong sense of place. It occupies a two-storey heritage building at the intersection of Glenmore Road, and traces its story back to 1890, when it became the first pub to open in Paddington Village. Bi-fold doors open the venue towards the street, while the balcony offers an airy place to settle in with a wine, beer or cocktail.

The food takes a straightforward pub approach, with a menu built around familiar, generously presented dishes. Standout options include the Beef and Guinness Pie with mash, peas and gravy; Chicken Schnitzel with slaw, fries and lemon; Fish and Chips with salad, tartare and lemon; and the 250g Sirloin Steak served with fries, salad and a choice of sauce. There are also vegetarian and vegan choices, including Falafel, the Green Bowl and a Vegan Burger, while the Sticky Date Pudding provides a traditional finish. The kitchen also caters for several dietary requirements, although the venue notes that its kitchen handles nuts, shellfish, gluten and eggs.

Drinks cover a broad pub-friendly selection, from sparkling, white, rosé and red wines to cocktails and spritzes. The cocktail list includes the Berry Proper, The Rum Regatta and The Village Grove, alongside options such as an Aperol Spritz, Limoncello Spritz and Hugo Spritz. The venue says it sources its meat from Meaty’s Butcher, an independent butcher, reflecting its preference for working with other local operators.

There is plenty to do beyond eating and drinking. The Village Inn is known for trivia, Sunday sessions and live sporting events, with TVs across both levels for match days. That makes it a practical choice for a casual meal, a drink with friends, a larger booking or a stop before or after an event at the Sydney Cricket Ground or Allianz Stadium.
