North Narrabeen Beach

North Narrabeen Beach is a well-known surfing beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, recognised as a National Surfing Reserve since 2009. It has played a significant role in Sydney’s surfing culture, with a consistent break, quality waves and a history linked to many surfing champions.

The beach offers a mix of activities depending on conditions. Council describes swimming and body surfing as generally good, while noting that a strong shore break can develop at times. The north end is particularly suited to surfing, with breaks along the beach and conditions that are best in north-easterly winds. North Narrabeen also includes Birdwood Park and Narrabeen Lagoon, giving visitors more of the surrounding coastal area to explore.

It can suit experienced surfers, beachgoers looking for a swim or body-surf, and visitors interested in one of Sydney’s established surf locations. Bus access is available, while parking includes free spaces for vehicles displaying Northern Beaches Council permits and pay-and-display options for others. Designated accessible parking spaces are also provided. Check current conditions before entering the water, as the beach is not patrolled by lifeguards at this time of year.
