Dad & Dave’s Brewing is a family-run brewery and tap room in Brookvale, Sydney, built around approachable craft beer, a relaxed beer garden and an easygoing welcome for groups, families, kids and dogs. There is plenty of seating, walk-ins are welcome, and larger groups are encouraged to book ahead. It is the sort of venue that works for a casual catch-up, a low-key weekend drink or a longer visit centred on trying a few beers.

The brewery’s range covers familiar styles alongside more experimental releases. Its core beers include Citra & Mosaic IPA, Hazy and Belgian-style IPA, while the new-release list has included Longy Lager, Dragonfruit Sour and Black Forest Gateau Pastry Stout. A standout from the site is the Mandarin Sour – Berliner Weisse, described as a light-bodied, lively beer with juicy mandarin citrus and a gently tart finish. The brewery also lists non-beer options such as hard ginger beer, hard cherry cola and Wildspirit gin, giving mixed groups a few alternatives.

Food comes from the Dad & Daves Food Truck, which serves burgers and crispy sides to match the beer. The venue also has a regular events programme, with live music, trivia nights, food specials and one-off events promoted through its What’s On listings. The brewery’s story begins on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in 2011, when father and son John and Dave turned their shared brewing and hospitality experience into a family business. Both are qualified brewers, and Mum, Jess, Scott and James are also involved in keeping the tap room and brewery running. Their approach combines traditional brewing fundamentals—malt, hops, water and yeast—with creative twists, while aiming for beers that are approachable and easy to enjoy. The result is a venue with a clear family identity, a broad beer selection and a welcoming setup for a mixed crew.
