In the heart of Sydney CBD, ArtHouse Hotel occupies a heritage-listed building that dates back to 1836, when it operated as The School of Arts. The venue now spans several levels and brings together a pub, restaurant, cocktail bar and event spaces, with a distinctly retro inner-city feel. Its mix of dining, drinks and programmed entertainment makes it more varied than a standard city pub.

Rabbit Bar is the hotel’s recently refurbished drinks and casual dining space, styled with a playful nod to the Mad Hatter’s tea party. It is set up for after-work drinks, shared cocktails and grazing boards, as well as beers and burgers, with regular entertainment adding to the atmosphere. The all-day menu includes pub-friendly plates such as cauliflower wings, salt and pepper squid, crispy chicken wings, a grazing board and the ArtHouse banh mi. Upstairs, Artasian focuses on Asian fusion, combining flavours and influences from across the Asian continent. The menu is designed for sharing, with dumplings, bao buns, small plates, noodles, curries and stir-fries, plus a selection of dishes described as Chef Yan’s favourites. Highlights include mini BBQ pork buns, duck pancakes, vegetable spring rolls, pad Thai, green curry and braised beef short rib. Artasian is a short walk from Town Hall, the QVB and Hyde Park, making it a practical option for a CBD meal before or after exploring the area.

The hotel also offers the Attic Bar and dedicated event spaces for occasions ranging from birthday parties and private dining to conferences. Its events team manages planning through to the end of an event, and the Rabbit Bar is listed with capacity for up to 400 guests in cocktail format or 200 theatre-style. For something beyond food and drinks, the programme includes life drawing classes, cabaret nights, photography workshops and burlesque in the Attic.
