Hairyman Brewery

Hairyman Brewery is a locally owned independent brewery serving the Cronulla and wider Sutherland Shire community from Taren Point’s commercial district, around 3km from Cronulla Beach. Its full production brewery is paired with an authentic cellar bar, creating a place where you can sit in for a quiet drink, pick up beer to take away or browse the brewery’s online range. The venue is close to the Woolooware Bay cycleway and welcomes riders with their bicycles, making it a practical stop for a cycle through the southern Sydney area.

Beer is the focus, with a rotating craft list alongside a core range, limited releases and seasonal brews. The brewery’s named range includes Pop Ale, Ginger Pop Ale, Follet’s Fable, Murphy’s Mutiny, Lawson’s Legend, Cory’s Claim, Salt Dog and Leatherback, Sun God IPA. The latter is described as a 6% IPA with citrus and floral character over a light, rounded golden malt base. Hairyman also sells its beers for takeaway and online, with products available in individual cans, packs and cartons depending on the release. The brewery describes its beers as handcrafted on site and has highlighted recognition from local and independent brewing awards.

The cellar bar is dog-friendly and kid-friendly, with a relaxed setup suited to locals, families and groups looking for a casual brewery visit rather than a formal dining experience. Weekend food trucks operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, adding an easy food option alongside the beer. Bookings are encouraged, although the venue notes that Sharks home-game days are walk-ins only, with no table bookings available. The bar is open Wednesday to Sunday; it is closed Monday and Tuesday, so checking the current schedule before visiting is sensible.

Hairyman is also connected to the local community beyond the bar. It is a member of the Independent Brewers Association and sponsors Southern Districts Rugby Club, the local Shute Shield side known as The Rebels.
