Why it's worth checking out
Al Aseel Restaurant Alexandria brings the group-friendly Lebanese dining style of the Al Aseel restaurant group to 42A/110–116 Bourke Road. The business began in Greenacre in 1998 and now has nine Sydney locations, with the Alexandria venue open seven days. Its kitchens are ANIC-certified halal, making it a useful option for diners looking for Lebanese food within a certified halal setting.
The menu is built around sharing, moving from cold and hot mezza to grilled meats, traditional mains, salads, sides and desserts. Familiar starters include hommos, baba ghanouj, tabouli and fattoush, while the hot mezza section includes falafel, meat or cheese sambousek, kibbeh and cauliflower with cumin and tahini. The restaurant also highlights kibbeh nayeh, a traditionally cured beef dish served with burghul, olive oil and roasted spices. Guests should note the venue’s advice that this dish is not suitable for people susceptible to illness, and that the kitchens are not allergen-free.
For a broader introduction to the menu, the Lebanese Feast is designed for a minimum of four guests and combines bread, dips, salads, hot mezza and grilled dishes for the table. The grill is central to the offering, with kafta mishwe, shish tawook, lamb skewers and a mixed medley among the main choices. Other substantial dishes include chicken and lamb shawarma, shish barak with lamb dumplings, mansaf, mjadra and slow-cooked lamb shoulder. The menu extends to Lebanese desserts such as knefeh bel jebneh, mouhalabieh and baklawa, giving groups plenty of scope to share from start to finish.
Al Aseel Alexandria is best suited to groups who enjoy ordering across the table, with catering and event packages also available for weddings, corporate functions and other occasions. Families are catered for with a dedicated children’s menu featuring shish tawook, kafta, chicken tenders and mini pizzas. The menu’s range also allows smaller groups to build a meal from a few mezza plates or choose a dish from the grill. With more than 25 years of Lebanese hospitality behind the group, the Alexandria restaurant offers a straightforward setting for a shared meal centred on Lebanese flavours, halal certification and generous choice.
